A letter of Complaint

Flat 21C

Dear Sir

I am writing to complain about the disgraceful way (1) which the No. 61 bus service operates. I work near the terminus (2) Eastern District. As I finish work at 11 p.m., I just get to the terminus (3) time to catch the last bus, scheduled to leave at 11:30 p.m. Last Friday, I reached the terminus (4) 11:20 p.m. and there was no sign (5) a No. 61 bus. I waited (6) about 20 minutes, and then went to ask the inspector on duty what had happened.

Although he could clearly see me waiting outside his office, he continued to read his newspaper, and it was only after I had been knocking on the window (7) about five minutes that he came out. He was extremely rude to me, saying the last No. 61 bus had gone long ago and that he would call the police if I remained (8) the terminus any longer.

Is this the way your staff are instructed to behave towards members (9) the public.

It is obvious that the bus had gone ahead (10) schedule so that the driver could get home early. This is not the first time that this has happened. There is no point (11) printing timetables if you do not keep to them.

This is a serious matter. It is your duty to offer an efficient service (12) /for the public, and not just allow the buses to be run (13) the convenience of your employees!

The No. 61 bus service is, (14) general, badly operated. The bus is almost always dirty with left-over food and cigarette-ends littered everywhere. This is another example (15) your company's complete disregard (16) the comfort of the public. The standard (17) driving is also extremely poor. The bus is driven recklessly, and I am sure the driver frequently misses out stops.

It is time you took some action and gave the public a decent standard (18) service.

Yours faithfully

Benjamin Tan
