Lantau Link was opened to traffic in May 1997, linking Lantau Island, Ma Wan and Tsing Yi Island with the Airport and the rest of the territory. It comprises two bridges, where Tsing Ma Bridge on Ma Wan Channel is the world's longest road and rail suspension bridges with a main span of 1377 meters and a total length of 2.2 kilometers, and also the main part of the Lantau Link. The other is Kap Shui Mun Bridge on Kap Shui Mun Channel, which is one of the world’s longest span cable-stayed bridge carrying both road and rail traffic.
