Ant Interview about Riz & his hardcore life
........in 1999, Riz formed King ly Chee with 2 of his friends. They write songs about society and their personal feelings. Their songs express their views about issues such as discrimination, racism and the education system. Riz said "hardcore is not about music, but a culture that helps people lead a healthy lifestyle. "Where we see something unfair that is happening in HK, we'll write a song about it. That's what 'hardcore' is all about' he said. "I've never smoked a cigarette, had a beer or taken drugs," he said the band are influenced by Riz's experiences during his 3-year studies in the US. He attended numerous hardcore concerts there, which inspired him to introduce the medium to HK. The band will organize a show next month to raise money for the homeless people in the SAR..........
"what I learned from hardcore culture is that you shouldn't expect ppl to come & see you without u working hard. You have to work hard to earn respect. If you are in a band, don't wait for a record company to release u'r CD. Relesase u'r own CD." He recalled the band's first gig in wan chai when no one had even heard of them. "We made the poster & put them up at skateboard and music shop. It turned out to be a full house.
Asked he if he was a rebel, he said "I'm rebellious, but not in a bad way. I'm rebelling against society's negative ideas & HK's stereotypes." Its a long interview about Riz & his skateboard
