The ranking of " Fortunate Life" Show

RTHK, broadcasting station of the Government compelled riders to watch its shows on public buses - a sampler

Fortune Telling

Besides the compulsive nature of the show, the subject matter of the show is out of the line and may be against the directives of the station.

What is wrong abut this broadcast is that it does not advance the knowledge about the subject matter.

Does this fortune telling belong to social science, to statistics, to a prescriptive model for behavior, a conjecture, a belief that is irrelevant, a theory based on causation - fortune follows from good deeds and punishment results from wrongful acts. If this is the case, then tell the People of Hong Kong what should happen to the directors of bus companies.

The crux of the matter is that this broadcast is a one way transmission of expression dictated by one party along. In this sense, this type of broadcast should fall out from the ambit of protection of the freedom of expression protection.

Bus operators, advertisers and people in position of power have been taking advantage of their vulnerability to influence the growing up of our kids.
