The story revolves around the relationship between a pair of newly weds, Liu and Chan; an estranged couple, Lee and ?; and a love affair between a married man Siu, and his girlfriend Leung. It also depicts the joy and woes experienced by Chan who lives in the same household with her mother-in-law.

Liu is a veterinaran living with his wife Chan and his mother who is constantly interfering in the couple's affairs. She is very reserved and closed-minded and tends to make the couple live by her rigid rules. Liu is constantly trying to appease the ongoing feud between the two women.

Liu has an elder brother Lee who has just divorced his wife. His wife has custody to their son, but because she lives just next door to Lee's mother, they still run into each other quite often. After becoming single again, Lee sees it as an opportunity to fool around, but in the end, he still misses his wife and tries to get back with her. It is not an easy task for him as he first has to fight off his wife's suitors.

Siu has a wife who lives in the US while he works in HK as a film director. Chan's sister Leung works in the same company. Siu and Leung have always known each other but were never close until a commercial shoot that brought them together. Despite knowing Siu is a married man, Leung still falls in love with him. Siu's wife later returns to HK and Siu is forced to make a decision between them.
