Yu was at Ling's side when the baby was born. With dad unable to personally register for the baby's birth and not wanting the child to be labeled illegitimate by leaving father's name blank, Yu finally agrees to put his name down as the father of the baby boy named Sun(Kwok Tak Shun).
To help make ends meet, Ling secretly takes up a singing job and leaves the baby in a neighbor's care while she's at work. Yu comes home one day to find the baby crying and running a high fever. He persuades Ling to quit her job but knowing how much Ling loves to sing and how much they need the extra income, he lets her keep her job.
