Sunday June 2 Cloudy

Even though the weather was not as desired, we were all excited about the trip. There were totally four of us: Ada, Carrie, Stella and me. We did not know each other before this trip but when we got started, we had already met for a few times and become more familiar with each other.

Thanks to Mr. Koh of Gulf Air, we could travel in business class seats in our first flight. It was the first time that I traveled by plane while all my group mates were experts of flying already. Carrie gave me a lot of help in reminding me what to do at different times. I got a seat besides the window and saw the plane took off and got higher and higher. The coast came into view very soon and the land became smaller and smaller. Clouds got near us and soon became our neighbours. Everything was marvelous. It was a long flight, luckily, I had Carrie as my company. We talked a lot.

The plane stopped by at Bangkok in Thailand. We stayed on the plane and waited for it to took off again to our first destination: Brahrain. When passengers got off at Bangkok were gone, a team of cleaning workers came up. We looked at them working. They were the ones who gave us a clean and comfortable environment for traveling. Then, passengers got on the plane and we were ready for flying again.

Ada and Stella happened to start talking with the staff on plane. With the sincere help of one of them, we could go into the control cabinet to have a look. It was amazing. With so many buttons, the two pilots controlled the "iron bird". Computers helped a lot in controlling the plane, but the two pilots still played important roles.

When we started our visit, it was at night. Looking through the big windows of the plane, we could see the beautiful starry sky. The pilot pointed Venus to us. It stood out in the sky especially bright compared to other stars. There were so many stars that you can probably never see this in a "light flooding" city like Hong Kong. It was the time when I experienced the mysterious beauty of the universe. It was also the time when I felt the passion hidden in Vincent Van Gogh when he painted "The Starry Sky".

During this long flight, we ate a lot. The food on plane was not too bad. But I believe it was because we were upgraded :). We slept for some hours and talked about our planning for the trip for some hours.

We landed in Brahrain late at night. A car was arranged to pick us up. Although Brahrain does not have so many colorful lights like Hong Kong at night, the night scene of the city already impressed me by its Middle East atmosphere. It was the time when I really felt that I had reached Middle east, a completely different country compared to my home. I was breathing air from another country. We stayed at a hotel for a night and we would take off to our real destination the day after.
