Orchestra
The
orchestra aims at promoting good music among doctors and their
friends and relatives friends in the capacity as performers as well as participating audience. As busy
practicing professionals in medicine, we have to satisfy ourselves at an amateur
level aiming at the highest standard attainable given the constraints of a
hectic Hong Kong lifestyle. All of our performances are for charity
fund raising, and at the same time serve as entertainment for both the players and
the
audience. We do everything to avoid commercial connections as well as
commercialized music.
Like most amateur orchestra, we suffer from an imbalance in different sections of the orchestra, notably the wind sections. Outside players (usually students from the Academy of Performing Arts) are sometimes recruited for performances with a nominal remuneration. It is our sincere hope that eventually our wind section will be strong enough to render such outside players unnecessary.
