Kit (Jet Lee) is a luckless ex cop, reduced to working as an uncredited stunt double for Frankie (Jacky Cheung), a famous action movie superstar.
Frankie has everyone convinced that he performs his own stunts, but Kit knows the real story; Frankie's a boozing fraud ready to turn tail at the first sign of trouble, and its really Kit who takes all the hard knocks ....

Things get complex when a snooping TV reporter (Naked Killer's Chingamy Yau) threatens to expose the sham, and Frankie and his cronies find themselves in the middle of armed robbery during a snazzy jewellery show.
Kit's determination to save the hostages is further sharpened as he discovers the henchman is the same man who killed his wife and child.
