The Movie

This hardcore prison thriller from maverick Hong Kong director Ringo Lam was a massive hit in its home territory.

After the success of his Reservoir Dogs inspiring City on Fire, Lam again engaged the services of Hong Kong’s most charismatic actor, Chow Yun Fat.

When a young advertising man (Tony Leung) gets three years for manslaughter, he’s the ‘new fish’ in the hellhole of an HK jail.

Meeting wise guy Ching (Chow Yun Fat), the two gang up to keep themselves safe from the vicious gang running the ‘inside’. Inspiring two excellent sequels, this dark vision of gangland criminal life on the inside is a razor sharp, dialogue driven thriller that refuses to conform to Hong Kong action clichés

Life on the inside has never been this rough, harrowing or inspirational.......

My Thoughts Movie Ratings

Prison On Fire is one of those movies that doesn't really hit you right away, but after some thought, you begin to realize just how good the movie is.  Definitely not Chow Yun Fat's best movie, but not his worst either!
