10.6m Volvo Super Olympians

After the success of 12m Volvo Super Olympians, KMB began to acquire the 10.6m ones. The existing batch of buses, ASV1-49, are equipped with ZF5HP590 gearboxes and Volvo D10A Euro II engines. They have been used to operate the routes with a low passenger capacity and those not suitable for 12m buses to run.

The 50th Volvo Super Olympian arrived in Hong Kong in early 2002. Due to its chassis number 50003, it is believed to be the first 10.6m Volvo Super Olympian in the world. The bus was painted in white at first, but KMB recently repainted it in gold, the standard colour of all double-deck SLF buses in the fleet. This so-called "mysterious white Super Olympian" is expected to be in service quite soon, and it is known to be equipped with a Volvo D10A engine and a ZF4HP590 gearbox, which no other bus in Hong Kong except AD1 uses.

KMB has also acquired another batch of 50, i.e., ASV51-100, in a commercial vehicle show in October 2001. They are most probably to be equipped with ZF6HP592 gearboxes and Volvo D10A Euro III engines. Very little about these buses is known yet, but when there is new information I will update this page.
