![]() Daily Homework:Not completing homework will not be tolerated. Any student that does not have their homework entirely completed at the beginning of class will be required ot finish it and turn it in the next day for half credit. If a student receives a less than satisfactory grade on homework, they will be required to redo the questions that they got wrong. This should be turned in the next day and will be given 7 points. If there is incomplete work for more than one day, the student may be required to stay in for a lunch detention in order to complete their work. Other homework will be given points as follows:
Quizzes: The number of points earned will be given as follows:
Tests: The number of points earned on a test will be given as the same number as the percent of questions that were answered correctly. Labs: Labs will be graded as good, fair and poor. A good grade will be given if the student is on task and participating correctly throughout the entire lab process. They will receive 10 points. A fair grade will be given if the student is on task and participating correctly most of the time. They will receive 5 points. A poor grade will be given if the student is not on task, messing around or distracting other students during the lab. They will be given 0 points. Projects: The students will be required to complete various projects that will range in point value. Projects will not be accepted if they are not turned in on the date they are due. Current Events: The students will be required to collect 5 newspaper, magazine or internet articles that deal with earth science each quarter. The students will cut out the article, write what chapter of the book the article fits with and write a summary of it that is at least 10 sentences. They will present one of these articles per quarter to the class. Each of the written summaries is worth 20 points, the presentation is worth 10 points. Articles will not be accepted if they have fewer than 10 sentences, are not about earth science, or are turned in after the cutoff date. Grading Scale
