- 506.1 As a way of attracting
Professional Staff to the isolated community of Wollaston Lake, and
in order to help in the moving costs to a new place of employment,
the Hatchet Lake Band Board of Education provides a freight
entitlement to it's Professional Staff, their spouses and dependannt(s)
upon contract commencement and at contract completion.
- 506.2 Freight entitlement at
commencement and completion of contract shall be:
- For a Teacher with no spouse and no dependants 1500 lbs.
- For a Teacher with non-accompanying spouse and/or
dependant(s) 1500 lbs.
- For a Teacher accompanied by a spouse and no dependants
2000 lbs.
- For a Teacher accompanied by one dependant 2000 lbs.
- For a Teacher accompanied by two dependants 2250 lbs
- For a Teacher accompanied by three or more dependants
2500 lbs.
- For a Teacher accompanied by spouse and dependant(s)
2250 lbs.
- 506.3 Saskatoon or Prince Albert
shall be the points of origin and destination for Professional Staff
freight entitlements into and out of Wollaston Lake.
- 506. 4 Professional Staff are
responsible for all shipping costs up to either Saskatoon or Prince
Albert at contract commencement and from Prince Albert or Saskatoon
at contract completion.
- 506.5 For the sake of economy,
the Education Program reserves the right to coordinate the shipment
of freight at contract commencement and contract completion.
- 506.6 Personal freight
entitlements will be usable up to six(6) weeks prior to the date of
contract commencement and two(2) weeks after contract commencement.
- 506.7 Personal freight
entitlements shall be shipped up to two(2) weeks prior to the date
of contract completion and up to six(6) weeks after the date of
contract completion.
- 506.8 Professional Staff whose
freight shipments go over their entitlement amount either at
contract commencement or at contract completion will have the extra
shipping charges deducted from their pay cheques.
- 506.9 A Professional Staff
member terminating his or her contract with the Board, other than
for certified medical reasons, shall be responsible for all costs
associated with shipping his or her and his or her family's
belongings out of the community.
- 506.10 Professional Staff
wanting to ship personal effects at either contract commencement or
contract completion must utilize Education Program approved methods
of shipment in order to qualify for the freight entitlement. Staff
wanting to ship belongings by other means are responsible for all
freight costs associated with the shipping.
- 506.11 Professional Staff
freight allowance is not cumulative and must be taken during the
school year, or it will be forfeited.
- 506.12 A Professional Staff
member terminating his or her contract with the Board prior to the
completion of the academic year shall repay to the Board 1/185 of
the moving costs for each day he or she falls short of 185 days.
The Board reserves the right to make deductions from the Employee's
final payment.
- 506.13 For the purpose of the
policy, the definitions of "spouse" and "dependant" are those used
by Revenue Canada.
