A Visit to The Zoo with The Special Children
The Interact Club of SMJK Hua Lian organized a trip to the zoo of Taiping for the Special Children.The trip was held on the 20 February 2000 at 9.30am.
The purpose of holding this trip was to bring joy and happiness to these special children.In addition,it would give our Interactors a valueble experience.The occasion gave an opportunity for Interactors to show their warm feelings and care towards this gifted children.
There were about 130 Interactors who joined the trip,accompanied by two teacher advisers, Mrs Kuan Toh Teong and Mr Goh Aik Hwa.In addition, some Rotaractors also accompanied us for the trip.
All Interactors gathered in front of the zoo at 8.30am.A few Interactors helped to set up the tents for the special children to rest after visiting the zoo.The special children arrived at 9.30am.Interactors accompanied them on their visit.The special children were then treated with some food and beverage.
To add colour to the function, the special children presented a choir.The 'Passing Ballons' game was then played by the Interactors and special children.The lucky winner was given a mystery gift.However, those who didn't receive any gift were then given one after the game,if they sang and introduced themselves.At 12.00 noon,Past President Rotarian Teoh Kok Liang gave a speech, followed by the chairman of Kesatuan kebajikan Orang Cacat, Dr Michael Wong.Next, everyone enjoyed the food which were sponsored by the Rotary Club.
After the party, the special children were sent back, and the Interactors helped to clean up the venue.Finally everyone went back home happily.We hope that this project will be held once more in the near future so that we would be able to give a helping hand to those who need our help.
