Spring Break, 2000
Hana, Maui
Hamoa Bay,
Hiking to the Seven Sacred Pools

Hamoa Bay is reputed to have been Mark Twain's favorite beach.  The waves are relatively brisk but the water is clear and blue.  As most of Hana's beaches, formed from volcanic runoff, the sand is black.

A beautiful series of pools, the Seven Sacred Pools, asending to a magnificent 400 foot waterfall, is just a two hour hike from the National Park headquarters.

Giant Banyon Tree encountered on the hike

A very dense, extensive grove of bamboo makes you feel like you're walking in a storybook.
