D.P. Emberton was listed as 15 years old and a farm laborer on the J. Quimby
farm during the 1860 census. Possibly a younger brother, A.P.? Emberton was
also living in the household. (I believe this could have been Angeline, his
mother). The notes read: Location of his parents during this time period is
unknown. On the census record, it shows that he had attended school during the
year.
Census: Daniel P. Emberton was listed in the 1880 census of the Cross Road area,
Hart County, Kentucky taken the 3rd and 4th day of June, 1880.
Daniel P. Was listed as a farmer with his father born in Tenessee and mother
born in Kentucky. Living in the house was his wife, 6 children, and his father
in law, Luther Denham (listed as a border, age ?73.
Resided: From the Affadavit of Daniel P. Emberton when his mother, Angeline
Emberton, was applying for a Mother's pension from her son, Sanderson D. Emberton's
Civil War service:
"I was living in Hart County, Kentucky in 1882 and 1883, and Sanford(?)
D. Emberton came to my house in the latter part of 1882 on a visit, and was sick
at the time he staid with me until his death which occured February 12, 1883
and was buried from my house. I know of this being his brother and having nursed
him through his sickness up to his death while at my house. And I am in no
other way concerned in the prosecution of this claim more than that the applicant
is my mother."

Census; D.P. Emberton and his wife Julia A. Emberton were listed in Magisterial
District #4 of Henderson County, Kentucky on the 1900 cnesus (a month before
Julia died). Julia was listed as married 35 years, having 6 children, 4 still
living. Also living with the family was son John B. Emberton age 21, a lodger
named William Luney and Aunt Julia A. Whittaker, age 66, born Virginia and parents
born in Germany.
DEATH; Daniel P. Emberton died October 14, 1922 at 1 p.m. He died of organic
heart disease which he had had for two years.
BURIAL. DANIEL P. EMBERTON was buried at Mount Herman(?), in Hartford, Ky.
General: Daniel P. Emberton was a farm laborer in the Quimby family home in
the 1860 census and he was listed as a farmer in the 1900 census and on his death
certificate. he was a member of the Shinkle Chapel Methodist Church. He remarried
soon after his first wife, Julia Ann Denham, died in 1900. He married Fannie
in 1900. His second wife filed for a widows pension in 1923. She, Fannie Emberton,
said that Daniel Emberton had enlisted at Bowling Gren, Ky in Company G.,, USA.
The pension was denied due to insufficient information, but the information
in the following letter that Fannie wrote was interesting.

STATEMENT THE HE WAS IN THE CIVIL SERVICE FOUR MONTHS. BUT I'VE LEARNED FROM
AN OLD SISTER OF DANIAL EMBERTONS THAT HE WAS OUT ON A FURLOW WHEN THE WAR CLOSED.
BUT KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT HIS REGIMENTS.
I HAD A HOME WHEN I MARRIED THIS SAD SOLDIER AND HE HAD BEEN AN INVALID FOR FIVE
YEARS. AND IT TAKEN MY HOME AND ALL I POSSESSED TO TAKE CARE OF HIM AND PUT
HIM AWAY, I AM LEFT ALONG NOW TO BATTLE OVER THIS WICKED WORLD...
THIS SOLDIER DANIAL EMBERTON HUSBAND OF MINE WAS MAIMED OF TWO FINGERS WERE CUT
OFF HIS RIGHT HAND WHILE HE WAS IN THE WAR AND CONTRACTED A BAD RUPTURE ALSO
THAT PRECEDED HIM TO HIS GRAVE....
He was married to Julia Ann DENHAM (daughter
of Martin Luther DENHAM and Sarah "Sally"
BERRY) on 29 Jan 1865 in KY.. Julia Ann DENHAM was
born in 1841 in Monroe Co., KY.. She died on 15 Jul 1900 in Henderson Co., KY..

Emberton was listed as wife of Daniel P. Emberton in the 1880 census and occupation
was keeping house. She was listed as born in Kentucky, her father born in Kentucky

Daviess County, Kentucky. I understand he left Lulu when his children were young.
His whereabouts during these years are uncertain. I hear he died in the State
Hospital in Daviess County, Kentucky.

Died in Hardinsburg at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 78 years
old. her usual residence was listed as Bowling Green, Warren Co., Ky. She was
in the hospital 8 days before she died.
Eliza "Elizabeth" Victoria Emberton was a daughter of Daniel Patterson
and Julia Ann (Denham) Emberton.
