After Eva died, Alfred remarried and let the boys have no contact with the Gilbert family. As a result, the boys knew almost nothing about the rest of the Gilbert family and it was only after they reached maturity that they, William in particular having married a Mormon girl, started searching for their roots and got in touch with the family. Alfred Spurlin WALDROP and Eva Lucy GILBERT had the following children:

William Loving WALDROP was born on 22 Jul 1914 in Sherman, Grayson Co.,
TX.. He died on 28 Nov 1991 in Grand Junction, AZ..
William Loving Waldrop, Bill, was an Orthopedic Surgeon. He practiced in Oklahoma City , OK for a number of years. His practice was interrupted at least three times to serve in the Army Medical Corps, WWII, Korean War and I think another time that he was needed to train other medical officers who would be called on to do Orthopedic Surgery in the field. Bill and Barbara retired from his practice in Oklahoma City and moved to Grand Junction, CO where they had a a ranch and he did some medical missionary work for the Mormon Church. Bill had converted to Barbara's religion and was very devout in his work for others. Bill had done quite a lot of genealogy on the family and had contacted a number of the descendants of Mabel Gilbert, including Miss. Jo Gilbert of Gainesville, TX in particular.
