8. James WALDROP II
was born about 1771 in Granville Co., NC.. He died on 30 Jul 1799 in Newberry
Co., S.C.. James Waldrop JR., son of James and Mary Henderson Waldrop left estate
records. In his estate, 5 shillings was left to each of his siblings. In place
of his deceased brother Samuel Waldrop, is the name ABIA GRIFFEN, brother of
Susanna "Sukey" Griffin Waldrop, widow of Samuel. [Note: Jan Dawson
1998 --- Abia was the administrator of his father and brother's estates, but
it is not clear why he was intervening for his sister in this estate. Perhaps
he was the guardian for Samuel's son, Samuel JR., but there are no known records
to prove this at this time.]
[Note: Nobel Acker --- Estate records of James Waldrop JR. found in Box 21, Pack
7. He died intestate but the administrator Abner Pitts was appointed on 7 Jul
1799. It appears left no family, and the proceeds were divided among his brothers
and sisters. The appraisers were John and Robert Floyd, Reuben Griffin, and
Samuel Henderson. If James Jr. had no children, why was the estate not given
to his wife? Another date of death given as 1 Sep 1799, Newberry Co., SC. must
be wrong.]
[Note: Blanche C. Davidson, Genealogist for Newberry, SC --- Buyers at estate
sale on 21 Oct 1799, included the Widow Mary Waldrop, Nancy Waldrop, Writter
Waldrop and John Waldrop. His estate valued at only $241.50 including 1 Nursey
of Apple Tra(___?), valued at $2.00. No deeds.]
