Character nme:  Derias Character Age:  19 Physical Description:   Derias is 6'0" with black, curly/wavy hair that brushes his collar, and dark brown eyes.  His build is lean, with wiry muscles.  His complexion is lightly tanned, and his voice is a low tenor.  He has a few scars on his body, from sword practice, but the notable one is a long sword slash on his right forearm. Personality: Self-disciplined and dedicated to his job, whether it be dragonriding or swordplay.  He strives for excellence and doesn't have much patience with people who are satisfied with just getting by.  Derias believes in working hard and playing hard.  He likes to ride runners and go rock-climbing in his spare time.  Tends to wear dark colors and prefers chai to klah.  Drinks alsohol sparingly.  Likes to flirt and is not above a dalliance or two with ladies. History: Derias was born the son of a Guardcraft master who taught at the local Guardhall.  He intended to exceed his father's career and earn a name for himself as a master swordsman, but an injury during a Gather ended that.  Someone got drunk and challenged him, then attacked when Derias declined the challenge.  The wound damaged the triceps muscle, making it impossible for Derias to continue his combatcraft studies as far as he had wished.  He was resigned to being an instructor for the rest of his life, when he was Searched for Silver Shores Weyr.  He isn't certain that he wants to be a dragonrider; it's not what he had ever planned for his life.  But he decided to at least stand.
