The "Warminster Thing"
By: Heather N Gibson

It began with a thunderous explosion that mushroomed into the "Warminster Thing." Christmas morning in 1964 a whole company of Welsh Guards, more than 30 men, were awakened by "the sound of a thunderous explosion." The noise continued and the men were alerted for duty. The guards could find nothing.

Later, that morning a woman on her way to church was knocked down and pinned to the ground by an invisible sonic blast. The blast was described as a low drone with a beating rhythm. The wave passed over several houses shaking the foundations and lifting the roof tiles.

Months later animals began to mysteriously collapse, " as if they had been hit by some sort of ray."

Anomalies and weird things became such a norm around Warminster that locals refer to anything odd as the "Warminster Thing."

It has been theorized that the sights and sounds are caused by experiments with new weapons at the School of Infantry, near Warminster.
