Since the third week of January, 2001, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum has been the temporary home of a visiting Russian Ilyushin IL-76. Carrying the code name: "Candid" (given to the type by NATO), the aircraft became a local aviation attraction for the museum's members and visitors for two months. The plane departed for home about the middle of March.
The Ilyushin 76 was produced as a military cargo transport in the mid-1970's. The IL-76TD is a Civilian version of that design, modified with stronger wings and upgraded avionics. |
