Warhammer Fantasy Mega Battle

I am proud to announce that Hobby Cafe's first Mega Battle for Warhammer Fantasy was a success last February 2, 2003.

With 10k points a side and 3 tables linked to each other - the battle was fierce. There are two armies - the good army and the evil army. In Side Table A the evil army can send reinforcements while the good army needed to defend. The reverse was true with Side Table B with the good side sending reinforcements and the evil side holding.

The main table was a take and hold scenario with the one with the most models nearest the objective then they won. Also the weather table in the Albion campaign was used with weather changing every hour. The game would end after 5 hours and the winner would then be determined.

Main Table

3k Empire and 3k High Elves vs 4k Chaos ( Tzeentch ) and 2K Khemri

- The "good" army was hard pressed to try to stop the amount of magic that was being cast by the "evil" side. Not only did they have to contend with the autocast of Khemri magic but also how to stop magic that had 28 power dice from Tzeentch. Add to it the weather conditions which started to rain making shooting difficult and the good army was in a rough time.

Side Table A

2.5 k Wood Elves vs 2.5k Dark Elves

- The Dark Elves had to reinforce the evil army on the main table. But not only did they have enough dark riders but they still brought along their trusty bolt throwers ( all 4 of them). Instead of immediately supporting the main fight the de army circled the wood elves and let fly with there repeater crossbows at point blank range.

Side Table B

2.5 k Empire vs 2.5 k Orcs and Goblins

- The empire force had to relieve the main table but first it had to get through a mob of orcs that were joining the fight !! The Empire force had to wade through a horde of fanatics. The vaunted Empire Steam Tank was gang banged by two giants.
In the end only the Grand Master and his retinue of knights made it to the main table.

Aftermath.

With minutes away from the game ending, the empire flank was being mauled while the high elf army gave a good account of itself but was out of position and too far away from the objective [To win the mega battle one had to have the largest unit neares the objective: in this case a watchtower]

Then the dragon princes emerged from off table after pursuing a pack of chaos hounds and raced towards the tower( 18 inch march works wonders), with the 2 regiments of Khemri skeletons out of position after pursuing the spearmen and the phoenix guard.

The tzeentch level 4 lord was finally met with an untimely end when even through the rain, Sigmar saved the Empire when the HellBlaster finally fired and sent enough shots to the Tzeentch mage to send it screaming to its master.

Then it was over and the Good Army managed but only just !!

Thanks to the all the players who played this monumental game and apologies for not being able to take pictures of the event.
