SAUSALITO, Calif. (AP) -- Todd Rundgren is trading in a life of nouveau mansions and luxury cars for a pair of flip-flops and some multi-colored shirts.
Rundgren is moving to Hawaii's north shore after living 10 years in the San Francisco Bay area's tony Marin County. He says he's tired of living in a place that "attracts the feckless nouveau rich."
"It used to be that all the artists who got burned out in the city moved here," Rundgren said. "But Marin is no longer populated by artists. It's full of money managers and venture capitalists who drive their Lexuses with one hand. ... It's become the land of nouveau mansions."
The singer who gained fame with such pop hits as "Hello It's Me" and "Can We Still be Friends" will hold a farewell concert in the area Saturday.
Rundgren's new home will include a recording studio and other high-tech equipment for creating music for the Internet.
