Indonesia looks to Melanesian group membership
Indonesia's ambassador to Vanuatu says it's only logical for Indonesia to be included
as a member of the Melanesian spearhead group.
Ambassador Imron Cotan says there are 12 million melanesians in Indonesia, more
than those in all of the Pacific countries combined.
The Canberra-based envoy has made the comments during a visit to Vanuatu, aimed
at continuing the cooperation between the two countries.
Indonesia is Vanuatu's fifth largest export market, and Mr Cotan says there's further
scope for trade between the two countries, urging the private sector to begin exploring
possibilities.
