Police defuse bomb in Ambon
Ambon (ANTARA News) - Police in Sirimau, Ambon, Maluku`s provincial capital, on
Monday again defused a bomb planted by irresponsible persons in front of the front
gate of a Bank Mandiri housing complex.
The bomb was first spotted by a trader, Mrs Ima La Andi, who usualy conducts her
trading activity at the location.
Mrs Ima was surprised to see a self-made active bomb on the table she was about to
use to display her merchandise. Terrified, she in the accompanied of other traders
rushed to the nearest police station to report the find. Police then sent a bomb squad
to defuse the bomb which was about to explode.
Some police officers said the bomb was active and had a detonator atached to it.
This was the second bomb terror incident after one on June 7. It occurred following the
disclosure by the police in the past two months of a number of perpetrators behind
shooting, terror and bombing incidents in the city.
Police on Monday carried out reconstructions of a number of cases including the
bombing at Ongkoliong, Batumerah, Sirimau, the shooting on KM Lai-Lai motorboat
and the killing of Rev Jokran Ratu involving some of the perpetrators of the
incidents.(*)
