Small explosion hurt four in Poso
JAKARTA (AP): A small homemade bomb exploded outside a house in central
Sulawesi province, wounding four people, police said on Sunday. The attack occurred
late Saturday outside a house in the coastal town of Poso, about 1,600 kilometers
northeast of the capital, Jakarta, said local police spokesman Rais Adam.
Rais said four people were lightly wounded in the blast and that police have
questioned several witnesses but have made no arrests. He declined to speculate on
who might have been behind the explosion, saying a bomb squad was investigating.
Poso was a major battleground in fighting between Christians and Muslims four years
ago that killed about 1,000 people and displaced thousands of others. In May, two
bombs exploded in a crowded market in the Christian-dominated town of Tentena,
some 60 kilometers from Poso, killing at least 22 people and wounding 40. In
January, police found 60 homemade bombs in an abandoned house in Poso.
