Welcome to my Antarctica living page
Well as most companies do before you head off into the wild, they put you in the best of the best hotels.
I was in the Staybridge suites in Denver through all my processing and then once I arrived to Punta Eranas
Chile, I was once again place in the best of the best hotels. Though I was only there overnight, it was great.

Ok, so next morning I check out, it was great, Agunsa came to make sure I was ok, and to take my bags to the ship. I am carrrying 1 large duffle bag, 1 suitcase and my backpack, then in Denver I added a metal chest full of mail for Palmer Station, now I get to the pier where I aquire another bag full of ECW (Extreme Cold Weather gear).

After picking up the gear and dropping it off on the ship it's time to go sight seeing... Not too much to see around here especially since I was by myself. See one bad thing about traveling is alot of the time you are alone, nothing like in the military.

Now comes the good part. I return to the ship and get my berthing assignment. Mind you now I am the only blk guy traveling dow to that part of the world. So on the ship it kinda showed!! LOL I was at the bottom of the ship and in a temporary berthing in a mobile can. LOL It's funny when ya think about it now, I was kept where the specimen and seacreatures they caught were stored. Not to mention if we hit an iceburg, hmmm, I guess the black man is the first to go in this episode also.. LOL Check the pics, try to read the tage on the doors...

When I arrived to Palmer Station I didn't know what to expect because just like with my last company, it started declining when I left the states. Well to my surprise I get here to Palmer and this place is not bad at all, it's not like I imagined, it's not like I saw on the web before I left the states. The rooms are pretty comfortable, well that is when you are single roomed which I am now but on the 18th I get a roomate, A French guy, one of the scientist here. All of us in the new building get roomates. But here is how it looks prior to someone else moving in..

Ok, more pics to follow as the year progresses.. Take care..
