The famed infield of Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Frank Chance led the Cubs to an astonishing 116-36 record, a Major League record for wins in a season that was matched by the 2001Seattle Mariners.

Chance led the team in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, stolen bases and walks.

Third baseman Harry Steinfeldt - the fourth member of the famous infield - led the team in hits, RBI, doubles, batting average and slugging percentage.

Three regulars batted over .300, four players hit 10 or more triples and nine players stole 10 or more bases as the Cubs stole 288 bases, the ninth highest team total of the century.

The team led the league in batting, runs scored and triples, while finishing second in the league in doubles, homers and stolen bases.

Mordecai 'Three Finger' Brown led the pitching staff with 26 wins and a 1.04 ERA, the lowest mark in National League history and the second-best in Major League history.

Jack Pfiester posted his only 20-win season with a 1.51 ERA, while four others won 12 or more games and three others posted sub-2.00 ERA's.

The team led the majors with a stingy 2.46 ERA.

The Cubs lost the World Series to the crosstown White Sox in six games.
