Dizzy led the league with a career-high 30 wins. He recorded 195 strikeouts, while also leading the team with 24 complete games, 311.2 innings pitched and seven saves in 17 relief appearances. |
Paul assembled a fantastic rookie season, racking up 19 wins and a 3.43 ERA in 39 games, including 16 complete games and five shutouts among his 26 starts. He finished third in the league with 150 strikeouts. |
First baseman Rip Collins burst out with a career season as the star of an offense that led the NL in runs, doubles, batting average and slugging percentage. |
Collins led the league with 35 homers, 369 total bases and a .615 slugging percentage, and topped the team with 116 runs, 200 hits, 40 doubles, 128 RBIs, 57 walks and a .391 on-base percentage. |
Rising star Joe Medwick also produced a stellar season, hitting .319 with 110 runs, 198 hits, 40 doubles, a league-leading 18 triples, 18 homers and 106 RBIs. |
Outfielder Joe Rothrock scored 106 runs, three other players batted over .300, and third baseman Pepper Martin stole 23 bases and hit 11 triples. |
