Good humored and fun loving, Jacen likes to enjoy life to its fullest. But when forced to fight, this large swordsman does not back down. Despite his size, Jacen can move with surprising agility and his sword techniques have proven to be a formidable force on the battlefield, even more so when his beloved Alyss is in danger.
Jacen is the only son of the tribal chief of the desert island Gradius. He was brought up in the fashion of the young men of the tribe. He was taught hunting, stalking, and fighting, and being the son to the chief, he was taught other skills as well. Jacen led a pretty normal life as a child, but he always dreamed of going on a great adventure.
One day when he was 10, a trading vessel arrived to barter with the tribe. Before the vessel departed, Jacen managed to sneak aboard and set off for his “great adventure.” After reaching the mainland, Jacen went out in search of anything that would prove adventurous. But since he was only 10, he soon got into trouble when he attempted to stop two goblins from stealing a cow from a farm. Just when it looked like all was lost, an old man showed up on the scene and in a blur of movement he drew a sword from his staff and dispatched the two goblins. The man revealed himself to be Titus, a farmer of these lands and a former swordsman. Taking pity on young Jacen, Titus took the boy in and made a deal with him. If the young man worked around the farm and help out, then he could stay here and he would teach Jacen swordsmanship.
Jacen agreed and so he stayed at the farm and worked hard to condition his body as well as study under Master Titus. The years of study came to a close when Jacen was 15. Titus fell ill and was bed ridden for weeks. Finally, one night as Jacen sat by the old man's bed, the master opened his eyes and smiled warmly. He told Jacen that he had learned all the master could teach him, and now the young man would have to choose his own path. After telling Jacen to take the long sword Wyrm Fang, Titus's personal blade, the master slipped of into eternal slumber. And so Jacen left the farm with a bit of sadness in his heart but he knew that his master would want him to use his teachings well.
Jacen found his way to the desert kingdom of Sol Vukar and even served a year as a royal guard where he befriended Stirling, who was a Dragoon at the time. But, he felt adventure beckoning him elsewhere and so he resigned from the guard and went traveling again.
He arrived in RavensDale. After staying in the city a few days he met and befriended Princess Alyss. After becoming her bodyguard, he was always there for her and at the same time he gave her companionship as a friend. That friendship eventually grew into love and the two grew almost completely inseparable. Now his future is uncertain, but this young warrior will certainly tackle it with everything he has, if it means he and Alyss will be happy together.
