Television Without Pity

my favorite tv show?

Well, for those of you who've, y'know, met me, that's not a hard question to answer. I've been a dedicated fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer since the eighth grade or so. Don't be fooled by the silly title-- it's worth being obsessed over. It's smart, funny, and engaging, with realistic characters, engaging stories, and the occasional emotional gut punch. Plus, it's routinely adored by critics and ignored by the Emmys, so there's rooting-for-the-underdog fun to be had by all.

But, surprisingly, that's not the only thing I watch. I'm also, a fan of Angel, Buffy's spinoff show, which has turned out to be just as good as the original. It's taken my three least favorite characters from Buffy (Angel himself, king of the broody people; Cordelia, the girl that tact forgot; and Wesley, who pretty much redefined insufferable) and made them interesting characters that fans actually care about.

Oh! Farscape, on the Sci-Fi Channel (why, yes, I am a gigantic nerd. Why do you ask?) is also pretty cool. It's funny and exciting, with really high production values (the aliens actually look like aliens, can you believe it?) and great characters.

Other fun, non-science-fiction-or-fantasy shows: Futurama (wait-- oops), Malcolm in the Middle, the Daily Show, and the late, lamented Daria.

Oh, and I've had the Real World monkey on my back for a while now. It's like really melodramtic crack.
