That´s how Willie Brown describes his clothes and they are sold under the Modern Classics label.  One might say that the essential focus of his designs is on functionalism, lack of ornamentation,  purging of any superfluities.  ´Less is More´  could be Willie´s motto.
Willie Brown is a small, slight boy in his early twenties.  He has a nervous smile,  a reticent manner and an almost pathological aversion to publicity and having his pictures taken.  hes painfully shy.
His clothes, in contrast,  ar dynamic statements - bold designs that toss tradicional fashion designs upside down.  Using architectural linguistics, he puts together dresses more like Bauhaus desingers construct a building.  Each dress seems to pay homage to the maching aesthetic.
It´s no wonder that he finds his inspirations not from other fashion desingers but from the forms that adorn our landscape - airports, departament stores, industrial blocks,  buildings that shape our environment.
´ If my influences are post-war´ fifties, they are product designs rather than fashion.  My new designs are more streaamlined now rather than the earlier structured ones´.
Colour is as important as shape and red and black predominate in Willie´s collection. However,  office colours are equally favoured.
He has only been designing seriously for about one and a half years.  From a working-class background,  he had innumerable odd jobs with innumerable interruptions and he says he only began art college to clear up his poor work record.  He thought it was time he focused his energies in some sort of direction.
