Buddy Rogers

Charles " Buddy " Rogers ~ actor, musician/bandleader and producer/director was born August 13, 1904 in Olathe, Kansas and died in California at age 94 on April 21, 1999. He married "America's Sweetheart" Mary Pickford on June 26, 1937, a marriage that lasted 42 years, until her death in May of 1979.

Buddy was a matinee idol who earned a great deal of attention when he co-starred with Clara Bow in " Wings". Buddy co-starred with Nancy Carroll in " Abie's Irish Rose", " Close Harmony ", "Illusion " and " Follow Thru". They were a favorite and popular screen couple in the early 1930s. He went on to produce Nancy's " I Love That Man ". A very talented and handsome man in his own right, he will probably be best remembered as the loving husband and protector of Mary Pickford. In Buddy's LA Times obituary he was referred to as the " silent screen matinee idol and bandleader who spent half his life tending the lady and the legend known as America's Sweetheart and the world's first real movie star, Mary Pickford."
