Lilyan Tashman was born on October 23, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York. She began her career on the stage and started making silent films in 1921. Lilyan was another of the relatively few performers who made the successful transition from silents to talkies.
After her first marriage ended in divorce,Lilyan married actor Edmund Lowe in 1925. She appeared in two Nancy Carroll vehicles, "Manhattan Cocktail" and "Scarlet Dawn ". During her career which lasted approximately 13 years, Lilyan appeared in over 50 films. She died at age 34 and unfortunately, Lilyan is little known today. Talented, witty, a true shopaholic and self-styled clotheshorse, Lilyan was a popular celebrity. She lived in Beverly Hills with Edmund in a mansion named "Lilowe" and was often referred to as " the best-dressed woman in Hollywood." She died on March 21, 1934.
