Cameron aka Ben Gerrard
What did you do before you joined HOLLYOAKS? Well, I was working in a modelling agency and then went to college. And I`m still studying music at college. I`m in a band called Chairman of the Bored and I play guitar and sing.
How did you get the part of Cameron? I originally went for the part of Jake Dean and got a few call-backs for that. A few weeks later I got a phone call saying `we want you for the part of Cameron` – which was nice!
What was it like walking onto set for the first time?Very nerve-wracking `cos I used to watch HOLLYOAKS regularly. I knew all the characters so I just got really nervous. It was hard getting used to their names. It was weird – very strange, but it was also exciting, everyone was really friendly.
And what was it like doing your very first scene? It was alright actually – it was with Bombhead. Lee Otway (who plays him) was really good to work with, really funny. So it was cool.
How would you describe the character of Cameron? Cameron is very confident. He knows all these girls like him pretty much, but he doesn`t make a big deal of it. He keeps it to himself.
Do you have a favourite moment on HOLLYOAKS so far? I did a fight scene with Norman – that was really good. We were fighting over Lisa. We had all the extras standing around, staring at us. But the fight was Cameron`s fault – he provoked it.
