According to the New York Post gossip column Page 6, despite her denials, Mariah Carey is having a grand ol' time with New York Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter. Apparently the on again-off again couple is on, and Jeter's teammates are not happy. They blame Carey for Jeter's less than stellar performance last season. Jeter seem to be focusing on not catching the ball, but Mariah instead. And she is said to also have done her fair share of chasing him down too. The pair reportedly had regular 3 a.m. trysts at Jeter's New York apartment. Earlier reports have said Jeter was a factor in the ultimate demise of Carey's marriage toTommy Mottola.

Mariah Carey is about to become a pioneer of sorts. The Wall Street Journal reports that Sony, in an effort to pump up waning cassette sales, will bundle the diva's new album, the expected blockbuster Butterfly, as a package set that includes both a CD and a cassette. The packaging experiment, which will set you back $24.98, is the first of its kind attempted by a music company. But for those who prefer your music in one format or the other, don't fret--Sony will also sell the CDs and cassettes separately. Butterfly is set to fly onto shelves on September 16. Carey, who recently split from her husband, Sony Music head Tommy Mottola, seems to be emerging from her own cocoon, appearing in a barely there outfit for the spy-spoof video of her new hit single, Honey.

Carey's spokesperson says the two are not romantically involved.

Mariah Carey fans will get a double dose of the singer next month when her "Butterfly" album hits stores. The album is scheduled for release September 16 and there's a possibility that Carey will tour -- but not until next year.
