From the January Best, Worst & Least Dressed of '99:
It's been a year in which all-out glamour ruled the red carpets at premiers and award shows as she stars strutted their buff stuff in ultra-stylish ensembles. Pretty woman Julia Roberts not only had back-to-back box-office blockbusters, but her elegant wardrobe - complete with the year's must have accessory, the luxe pashmina wrap - also made her a big winner. Oscar nominee Cate Blanchett failed to snare a gold statuette, but was a true champion of chic in a delicate, embellished designer gown that fit her like a second skin. But not everybody deserved applause. Some celebs wore outfits so outlandish you'd think they wouldn't want to be caught dead in them, while others flashed so much flesh they might as well have shown up naked. On these and the following pages, we've chosen 1999's best, worst and least dressed stars. See if you agree with our picks - because rating fashion's hits and misses is always in style. | |
