Gustav Mahler:
Das Klagende Lied (1879-1880)
The first work of significance of his author, Mahler began to work on it just when he left the Vienna Conservatory, showing it on the 1881 Beethoven Prize, award which he couldn't obtain. Reviewed on the following years, Mahler removed the first movement, Waldmärchen, and achieved to premiered it in Vienna, on February the 17th 1901. The retired movement couldn't be heared, on a invididual basis, until 1934 on radio transmissions; the Cantata, on its integrity, was definitively premiered in 1935.
