Marvel issued seven additional comics (what would have been single
titles) in two books: "Star Wars" (Marvel Illustrated Books,
Nov. 1981) and "Star Wars 2: World of Fire" (Marvel Illustrated Books,
October 1982). Apparently different schedules for the weekly SW comics
in Britain and the monthlies in the US led to a need for fill-in
material in Britain. The extra stuff (or most of it) was then combined
and released in the two books. Here's a synopsis of titles, etc.:
Star Wars:
Way of the Wookiee
- Days before meeting Luke and Ben, Han and Chewie run into trouble on
the planet Formos (part of the Kessel Run). In the end, they're forced
to dump their spice shipment, which is the event that outrages Jabba.
The Day After the Death Star
- Luke, beaming from the victory celebration, goes out on patrol in
his X-Wing and winds up in a duel with a TIE fighter that survived the
Death Star battle.
Weapons Master
- Leia recalls for Luke how she learned weaponry from Giles Durane, a
mercenery hired by her father to teach her.
War On Ice
- Luke vs. Imperials on an ice planet. The story starts in the middle,
leading to speculation that some other British weeklies may still
never have appeared in the U.S.
Star Wars 2: World of Fire
- A three-part series: Luke, Leia, the droids, and Mici Shabander (new
heroine) are forced to join up with Imperials when stranded on a
strange world which is home to an unknown, violent alien culture.

Pizzazz Magazine, 16 issues, reprinting another British
storyline not otherwise appearing in the US (the 17th chapter is "War
on Ice," in the first Illustrated Book).

Al Williamson did an adaptation of A New Hope which was
intended to be the first newspaper strip before Russ Manning came
aboard, but it was never published in papers because Williamson wasn't
available to keep working on the series. The material he completed
appears in the book, The Art of Al Williamson.
Rocket's Blast Comic Book Collector had an issue devoted to SW
in 1978, which printed an article entitled, "Why Marvel Failed."
Included with the article was a superior comic book rendering of the
cantina scene.
Contemporary Motivators did a series of filmstrip/book/comic/
audiotape collections for schools back in the 80s, intended to teach
children to read. One edition focused on SW and had a comic book
adaptation of the movie separate from the ones from Marvel and
Williamson.
