Setting--The Alpha/Gamma Quadrants.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is the furthest away fro Star Trek than any other Trek series. Situated at the mouth of a stable wormhole, the crew must fend off aggressors from both the Alpha and Gamma quadrants, and deal with Bajor both politically and spiritually. Where else, in the span of a year, can Starfleet take a major beating from first the Klingons, and then the Domininion (and don't forget the Borg incursion took place in between those two wars)?
