information.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

"Muscle" was an ensemble sitcom set in a health club/gym. When the chain's
owner is found dead at the club, it is determined he was murdered. Everyone
at the club has dark secrets or plays dirty. The show has been compared
unfavorably to "Soap," which it really doesn't resemble.

For a better description of the storylines, please see the description for
the pilot, below.

"Muscle" was a Witt/Thomas production in association with Warner Brothers
Television, a division of Time Warner Entertainment Company. All episodes
were directed by Gary Halvorson.

ABOUT THIS GUIDE:

Episode titles, original run dates, and production numbers come from
the online Library of Congress Information Service (telnet://locis.loc.gov).
I do not assume that the LOCIS information is completely correct (I have
found errors), so you shouldn't either. I will correct errors as I find
them or as they are pointed out to me.

*** SEASON 1 (1995 only) 13 EPISODES ***

EPISODES:

01-02. "Pilot" 11 January 1995

All major storylines are introduced in the two-part pilot: We meet, for
a short time, Big Jim Atkinson, owner of a chain of gyms called Survival.
When he sees his ne'er-do-well son, Kent, and new, 25-year-old wife, Jane,
in an amorous encounter, he dies. Jane and Kent both vie for his estate.
Kent's only friend at the club is the competent juice bar tender, Victor.
Gianni hangs around the club as a gigolo, trying to hook up as a plaything
to older, rich women, but is also in love with the young but poor trainer
Angela. Bronwyn Jones is the in-the-closet lesbian news reporter for the
local television station, who is being blackmailed by a financially strapped
Robert. Sam is the nice, muscle-bound weight lifter who likes her. Cleo
is the charming southern actress-wannabe trainer with a dark secret and
mysterious caller. Garnet Hines is the slimy lawyer, who along with Dr.
Marshall Jones, is trying to defend his most celebrated client: Guy Davore,
the carnivore, who is charged with murder and cannibalism.

03. "" 18 January 1995

Kent discover that his father was murdered and suspects Jane is the culprit.
Jane discovers that Big Jim stored sperm and decides to try for a baby,
knowing this heir (and hence her) would receive controlling interest in the
estate due to Kent's recent stint in detox. When she discovers she's
infertile, she looks for a surrogate.

04. "" 25 January 1995

Jane tabs Cleo as her surrogate. Kent discovers Jane's plan and hatches
one of his own. Sam makes a play for Bronwyn.

05. "" 1 February 1995

Tired of being blackmailed, Bronwyn decides to come out of the closet
while on air, crushing Sam. Kent reveals Jane's plan to Cleo. Garnet
gets Guy Davore found innocent, much to Marshall's consternation since Guy
is obviously a dangerous person. The judge throws Garnet and Marshall a
loop by ordering them to watch over the "completely safe" Davore. Jane is
poisoned.

06. "" 8 February 1995

Jane is changed woman after waking from her poison-induced coma. Kent
believes her and looks for a suspect. Sam starts taking steroids, supplied
by Robert, to lift his depression over Bronwyn. _Guy cages Garnet and
Marshall, making them his next planned meals.

07. "" 15 February 1995

Jane agrees to let Kent announce her death, hoping the attempted murderer's
hand is revealed. Cleo receives her big break in acting but then realizes
it involves substantial nudity. Gianni moves into Angela's rat-infested
apartment while still playing the gigolo.

08. "" 22 February 1995

Realizing he's the next target of the murderer's poisoning plot, Kent stops
eating. Cleo takes a pregnancy test, and it comes back positive; she
hatches her own blackmail plan.

09. "" 1 March 1995

Marshall comes up with a plan to get Guy to release him and Garnet from the
cage. Jane and Kent secretly meet in the steam room, site of their last
encounter when Big Jim discovered them, and after talking, take up where
they last left off. _Victor is charged with Big Jim's murder after he and
Kent argue.

10. "" 26 April 1995

Cleo tells Kent *HE'S* the father of the child she's carrying, due to
*THEIR* steam room encounter. Meanwhile, Kent figures out who the murderer
really is. _Gianni is injured and rushed to the hospital.

11. "" 10 May 1995

Gianni discovers he's in a run-down hospital, making him sicker than his
injuries. Kent puts the facts together in the case of his father's
murder.

12. "" 17 May 1995

Big Jim's secretary (Jill C. Klein) confesses to his murder, clearing Victor.
Sam has to make a decision regarding his daily workout show. _Angela and Gianni
agree to marry.

13. "" 24 May 1995

Angela and Gianni prepare for their wedding, which they are allowed to hold
at the gym. Jane suggests to Kent that they flee to Europe.

In the final scene, Angela and Gianni are holding their wedding when one of
Gianni's jilted older women comes in with a gun, firing. Several people are
hit, including Victor -- in slow motion. Since the series was not renewed, we
will never learn their fate.
