 5-21.   PROMISES TO KEEP                                  4/23/98

         This episode begins in the PROMISED LAND series where we learn
         the background of a security guard, his daughter and his
         ex-wife.  After a number of years of marriage, a vice cop finds
         out his wife was a con artist.  She claims she gave it up when
         they were married, but he can't accept that.  He demands that
         she never see their daughter, then about 7, again or he will
         send her to prison.  He moves and changes his occupation.  In
         the present, his wife returns and they have a loud argument in
         which the daughter learns that the nice lady is really her mom.
         She was told her mother was killed in an accident.  She is very
         upset and the episode ends with her mother vanishing.
         On Diagnosis Murder, the security guard comes to Los Angeles
         to identify a body thought to be his ex-wife, but it is instead
         one of her friends, also a con artist.  Their boss thinks mom
         stole the bonds from the last scam and wants them back.  To
         protect his daughter, the security guard plans a scam whereby
         they will 'sell' some equipment to the hospital and the loot
         will repay the boss and call it quits--but will it?
