The Great Gleason
This is a wonderful video full of rarely seen clips from The Jackie Gleason Show, including sketches with Gleason's numerous and colorful characters, Reggie Van Gleason III, the Poor Soul, Fenwick Babbit, Charlie Bratton the Loudmouth (along with Art Carney's Clem Finch), Joe the Bartender, and Rudy the Repairman, in addition to his most famous character, Ralph Kramden in Honeymooners skits. Also included is Gleason delivering monologues and speaking to the studio audience. One of these scenes is of Gleason winging it when his live show ended too early, and he had to do something on camera before the next show was to come on. He improvised a variation of his old nightclub act, with imitations and also a dance and three flips(!)(though he did not land on his feet for any of the flips). A great opportunity to see clips from one of the most popular (albeit non-syndicated) television shows of its time.

The Hustler
This 1961 movie is one of Jackie Gleason's most famous, and perhaps best, movies. In it Gleason plays Minnesota Fats, the greatest pool player in the country (a good part for a man who spent a good deal of his childhood and adulthood shooting pool). Paul Newman plays "Fast Eddie" Felton, who sets out to prove that he can beat "The Fat Man." This truly a great classic was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Gleason.

Requiem for a Heavyweight
This is a 1962 drama about burnt-out boxer named Mountain Rivera, played by Anthony Quinn, his manager, Maish Rennick, played by Jackie Gleason, and his trainer, played by Mickey Rooney. Gleason puts in a great performance in this intense and somber classic. Based on a Rod Serling story.
