Circus

Anacortes

By now this place is being used for R/V storage. In the mid-'80s, X-rated fare was advertised on the marquee.

I visited the place to see that they still use the circus motif on their storage yard, with cartoon caricatures all around. I have no idea if such decorations were kept up when it was an adult theater.

The entrance road.

Down in front! The lot now holds trucks and parts of prefab homes.

The projection booth is still decorated with cartoon characters.

Some of the speaker poles that have been removed from the lot are still nearby.

Here you can see evidence that they must have offered in-car heaters to their patrons, plugged into an unfamiliar type of electrical outlet. Once this became an adult theater, an electric heater would have been superfluous.

Here is the highway side view of the screen. Back when it was an adult theater, I remember the barrier to the screen view looked like a natural hillside. It would have had to have been very tall, and no sign of it is left today.

Another angle on the snack bar.

Some of the letters are missing from this sign for the, er, "TH'ATR".

Terraserver photo of Circus. Main lot is on the left, and twin lot is on the lower right. It appears they didn't relandscape much for the twin lot.
