Hands On A Hard Body (1998)-This was a very funny and engaging documentary that chronicles a contest where the last person to take their hands off a truck, wins the truck. The contestants are from a small Texas town and they are all pretty interesting. A very good slice of life and shows audiences that a well-done documentary can be just as good as a narrative movie. A-

Hard Eight (1996)-I finally rented this movie by "Boogie Nights"'s P.T. Anderson and it was really good. I saw a lot of stuff he ended up perfecting in "Boogie Nights" and this was his first feature, so it wasn't too bad. The acting was excellent and the direction was very good. He has kind of a free-flowing style and a penchant for long takes, which are always hard to pull off, but he just loves them anyway. A good movie--only flaws maybe was that it seemed to go nowhere a meander from time to time and leaves the audience thinking, where the HELL is this going, but the same can be said for "Boogie Nights". B+

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)-Kevin Williamson horror flick about 4 teens who accidentally off some guy and try to dump the body. But the next summer, he comes back to get revenge. A pretty lame story made interesting by the impressive cleavage of Gellar and Hewitt and I'm sure women may get a kick out of Phillipe. Some of the scenes are actually scary, especially when the killer is chasing Gellar. The ending was rather lame, but only set up for the lame sequel. B+

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)-I must admit that the only saving grace of this film was Hewitt's impressive cleavage, which was accentuated throughout the film. The rest of the film is mindless, very unscary scenes that TRY to scare you but fail miserably. All the whodunit mystery of the first film is nonexistant in this film as the only thing it can muster is a body count. I have two words for the makers of this film: Kevin Williamson. C+ (Hewitt rescuing it from D-dom)

J
John Carpenter's Vampires (1998)-Well it was a different take on the vampire genre. And it was a pretty good movie. James Woods was hiralious--there's something hilarious in the way he says" "padre"--and Thomas Ian Griffith was a kickass bad guy. The movie is violent, bloody and had its good scary moments. But it wasn't truly terrifying like I went in expecting. It had thrills, but was not truly frightening like "Halloween". It was just a fun little movie. B

L.A. Confidential (1997)-Number 12 on Nothingman's Top 30

Last Days of Disco, The (1998)-A funny little film by Walt Stillman chronicling the death of disco and the effect it has on a circle of friends. This is mainly a conversational piece, with good dialogue and excellent music playing throughout. The dialogue makes this film good and the characters are really well formed and believable. B+

Little Women (1994)-This review is a shout out to Marj, for this is her all-time favorite. Me? Well, I liked it. It drew you into the March family and made you care for all the characters. Ryder was very engaging as Jo and the rest of the cast was excellent as well. It may be a chick movie, but its a REAL good chick movie. The only confusing part was the switch-up of Beth's character when she gets older--confusing!! A
