Puppy Love
Paul Anka
Written by Paul Anka
Although Anka sings about being 17 in "Puppy Love," he was actually an old man
of 19 at the time he wrote and sang this pop tear-jerker. According to legend,
Paul wrote this song about a quiet affair he was having with fellow teen idol
Annette Funicello. Ironically, a few years later, Annette wound up marrying
Anka's manager.

And they called it puppy love
Oh, I guess they'll never know
How a young heart really feels
And why I love her so
And they called it puppy love
Just because we're we're seventeen
Tell them all it, please tell them it isn't fair
To take away my only dream
I cry each night my tears for you
My tears are all in vain
I'll hope and I'll pray that may-maybe someday
You'll be back (you'll be back)in my arms (in my arms) once again
(You'll be back in my arms once again)
Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above?
How could I, oh how could I tell them
This is not a puppy love
(This is not a puppy love)
Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above?
How could I ever tell them
This is not a puppy love
(This is not a puppy love)
