The Aztec empire encountered by the Spaniards in the 16th century was the most recent phase of 3,000 years of settlement in the region. It is possible to trace the cultural patterns of Aztec life to the Toltecs, back through the great civilization of Teotihuacan, through the earliest complex societies which first developed in Mesoamerica some time before 1500 b.c.

This webpage will be an attempt to present as much of the history and customs of this great empire. Along with the history of these people, I will also have information on the man who led the conquest of the Aztecs: Hernan Cortez. Please look around this site and enjoy your stay.
