Hannibal- the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs : David Mamet is in negotiations with producer Dino De Laurentiis to join director Ridley Scott in developing Hannibal, the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs. He expressed interest in the project after reading the book and after the original screenwriter, Ted Tally quits. Jonathan Demme had left the project a few weeks ago. De Laurentiis has paid $10 million for the rights to the sequel from novelist Thomas Harris. Hannibal has been a best-seller since it debuted this month also it's No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list.

Scream 3 : Parker Posey (The House Of Yes) will star in a lead role in Scream 3. The plot is said to be more spoof than splatter and will be about the lives of the Scream crew, out of college and dealing with adult concerns, which, unfortunately, include that pesky black-robed specter.

X-Men : Halle Berry and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos are in negotiations to join the cast of X-Men. Berry would play Storm, who summons hurricane-force winds, rain and bolts of lightning to control the weather. Romijn-Stamos will take on Mystique, a blue-skinned villainess who is able to change shapes into anyone she's seen. The cast already includes Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Dougray Scott as Wolverine and Anna Paquin as Rogue. Shooting is will begin in September. Bryan Singer (Usual Suspects) will direct the film.

Pavarotti in Dad's Room : Rachel Griffiths and Jonathan Pryce will star in Pavarotti in Dad's Room which will be directed by Sara Sugarman (Mad Cows). The pic is the story of an naive girl living with her father. When he becomes ill, she is forced to venture into world with comical consequences.

Boys and Girls : Freddie Prinze Jr. (She's All That) and director Robert Iscove will reteam for the romantic comedy Boys and Girls. The film will centers around Ryan (Prinze) and Jennifer, two best friends whose relationship is tested after sex enters the mix. The female lead is not known yet.

Cheer Fever : Kirsten Dunst will play the lead Cheer Fever. The film is about the world of high school cheerleaders, which Dunst will play a competitive cheerleader vying for a spot on the squad. Once she's accepted, she leads the team to the National Cheerleading Championship, with the girls overcoming numerous obstacles in the process, culminating in a "Rocky"-like climax. Also the cast includes Jesse Bradford as the male lead- playing Cliff- a handsome new student who has a crush on Dunst, Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Tsianina Joelson (The Daily Burn) and Gabrielle Union (She's All That)

Superman Reborn : Superman project, which was delayed because of the script and budget problems, is in production again. Warner Bros. has hired Bill Wisher (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), to write a new script. Wisher will begin to write the film, after he finishes a project for director Robert Zemeckis. Nicolas Cage signed on with producer Jon Peters and director Tim Burton before but the studio had little trouble lining up its merchandising and tie-in campaigns, so the screenplay never really came together. After that director Burton has permanently departed the project. The studio will go out to directors after Wisher finished the script.

The Third Wheel : Denise Richards (Wild Things) and Luke Wilson (Blue Streak) will star in the romantic comedy The Third Wheel. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Pearl Street production will helm the film. Jordan Brady (Dill Scallion) will direct the film.

The Dubbed Action Movie : Steve Oedekerk, the writer-director of Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and Nothing to Lose, is in talks to write, produce, direct and star in The Dubbed Action Movie which is a martial arts spoof featuring Oedekerk as a martial arts hero.

An Ideal Husband : Loews has relased new trailers for the film which stars Cate Blanchett (Lady Chiltern), Minnie Driver (Mabel), Jeremy Northam (Sir Chiltern), Rupert Everett (Lord Goring) and Julianne Moore (Mrs. Cheveley). This film is a comedy which tells the story of a woman of society and political stature (Blanchett) who learns that her husband, a member of Parliament, (Northam) attained his position and their family's fortune in a most controversial manner....

Peppermint Lounge : Chazz Palminteri (Mulholland Falls) and Bruno Kirby (in The Basketball Diaries as coach) will star in Peppermint Lounge. Paul Michael Glaser will direct the dark comedy The film's budget is $10 million. Pic is the story of two boyhood friends(now ex-cops), who become involved in a get-rich-quick scheme that goes awry. Shootings will begin in September in New York.

Shiny New Enemies : Claudia Schiffer (The Blackout,Black & White) will star in Shiny New Enemies which is directed by Patrik Von Krusenstjema and Pontus Lowenheim. Schiffer will star opposite Steve Zahn, Salma Hayek, Jeff Goldblum, Tom Wilkinson, David Cross and David Hyde Pierce.

Keeping the Faith : Anne Bancroft, Eli Wallach, Holland Taylor and Ron Rifkin will join Edward Norton, Ben Stiller and Jenna Elfman in Keeping the Faith which Norton is directing. The film is a romantic comedy about two boyhood friends, a rabbi (Stiller) and a priest (Norton), whose relationship becomes confused when they fall in love with the same woman.

Mickey Blue Eyes : Official Site has released trailer for this Hugh Grant, Jeanne Tripplehorn and James Caan starrer film which is about an art-dealer (Grant) and his girlfriend (Tripplehorn) whose uncle (Caan) turns out to be a mob boss. Things get really mad when her uncle wants to use his auction house as a way to launder money. Get Quicktime 4 for new trailers.

The Vertical Limit : Robin Tunney, who is starring as Arnold Schwarzenegger's target wife in the End of Days, will star opposite Chris O'Donnell in The Vertical Limit. Tunney will play Annie, an experienced mountain climber who is trapped in an avalanche on the ascent of the Himalayan peak K2. Her reluctant brother (O'Donnell), who swore off the sport after the accidental death of their father, must save her.

"In Too Deep" Full Trailer (7.4Mb, MOV) The film stars Omar Epps, Stanley Tucci, LL Cool J and Pam Grier . Pic is about a young cop in Cincinatti (Epps) working undercover in a drug ring loses touch with his superiors. On the two sides of this battle are his police boss (Tucci) and his drug lord boss (LL Cool J). Get Quicktime 4 for new trailers.

The Legend of Bagger Vance : Robert Redford has removed himself from the lead role of the golf movie The Legend of Bagger Vance and it is reported that Brad Pitt is the top candidate to replace him. Redford remains the film's director and producer. The film is based on Steven Pressfield's 1995 novel about a local Georgia golfer and World War I hero named Rannulph Junah who competes against golf greats Walter Hagen and Bobby Jones in a 1931 tournament.The movie has a budget of $70 million.

Around the World in 80 Days : Mummy team of director Stephen Sommers and actor Brendan Fraser are negotiating with Warner Bros for a remake of the Jules Verne classic Around the World in 80 Days. A script has been written by Stan Chervin. And Sommers and Frazer are thinking to make a sequel of the Mummy.

Going After Cacciato : Writer-director Nick Cassavetes will direct his adaptation of Tim O'Brien's novel Going After Cacciato. In the movie, the title character, fed up with trying to destroy Vietcong tunnels and losing members of his battalion in bloody carnage, goes AWOL with the intention of walking to France. His battalion mates set out to follow him and bring him back, though it is unclear whether they have authorization to do so, or if they will really bring him back.

Moulin Rouge : Actor John Leguizamo joined Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge. Leguizamo and film's director Buz Luhrman also worked in Romeo + Juliet. The film takes place in 1899 Paris and follows a poet who has an affair with a nightclub star as he becomes involved with the local bohemian underground. Leguizamo will play the diminutive artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

Weekend Box-Office : Big Daddy new comedy from Adam Sandler, opened the three-day weekend, grossing about $41.2 million. Second box-office winner of the weekend was Tarzan with $23.5 million, while Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me at No. 3 with $18.5 million.

Eyes Wide Shut : Two new commercial trailers for the Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise starrer Stanley Kubrick movie are released. They have some dialog finally and some footage from the famous "Masked Party" scene.
