Last James Bond FilmStar Wars Prequel Episode 2 : As we reported on our past news, Robert Carlyle's (The World Is Not Enough, Full Monty) name was involved for the second Star Wars prequel. While talking with the Popcorn site the actor said that I've never had any contact with Mr. Lucas at all, and added, But if he wants to phone me I'd certainly talk to him. Also the actor is happy about the the rumors and said that It's very flattering to be connected with something like that, that's for sure.

Charlie's Angels : Jada Pinkett Smith will not star in the big-screen version of Charlie's Angels. She told this to Popcorn site at the premiere of Wild Wild West in UK. Cameron Diaz will received $12 million and Drew Barrymore will star in and produce Charlie's Angels for Columbia Pictures.The pic starring Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz playing two of the women, and the third is expected to be announced shortly. Shooting begins in October, with a summer 2000 release expected.

A Dog of Flanders : A Dog of Flanders is based on the children's book and have a strong supporting cast like Jon Voight and Jack Warden. The film, which stars Steven Hartley, Jeremy Kissner and Cheryl Ladd, is about a young boy in late 19th century Belgium finds comfort in the friendship of his dog as he dreams of becoming a painter and copes with the ill health of his grandfather.

Johhny DeepThe Man Who Cried : Johnny Depp will star The Man Who Cried. Sally Potter (The Tango Lesson) will write and direct the film which is about a young woman (Christina Ricci) who flees Germany for Paris in hopes of eventually making it to the United States. Cate Blanchett, John Turturro and Robert de Niro are also attached to star in the $20 million film.

Rat Race : Jerry Zucker (First Knight, Ghost) is in final negotiations to direct Rat Race. The pic is a road comedy follows a group of participants in a race from Las Vegas to New Mexico. There are no rules, and the winner gets $2 million.

From Alice to Ocean : Helen Hunt is attached to star in From Alice to Ocean. The film is based on the true story of Robyn Davidson, who crossed the Australian outback with three camels and a dog to sort out her life and discover its meaning. Davidson recounted her adventures in the books From Alice to Ocean and Tracks: A Woman's Solo Trek Across 1,700 Miles of Australian Outback. Hunt last finished Cast Away, opposite Tom Hanks.

Downey In Jail : Robert Downey Jr. who earned an Oscar nomination for Chaplin,was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday for violating probation from a 1996 drug conviction. He was led out of a Malibu courtroom in handcuffs, nodding to several friends. Municipal Court Judge Law-rence Mira,said he had given the actor, many chances to rehabilitate himself. But, he said, Downey has manipulated doctors and psychiatrists during seven court-ordered drug rehabilitation programs. I don't think we have any alternative, the judge said. We have used them all.

Psycho The Best : An international panel of top film directors has chosen Psycho as Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece. The directors, ranging from American Martin Scorsese to Australia's Baz Lurhmann, were asked by Sight and Sound magazine to vote for the top Hitchcock film to mark the centenary of his birth.

Jurassic Park 3Jurassic Park 3 : According to Michael FlemingJoe Johnston (Jumanji) will direct Jurassic Park 3, which is based on a story defined by Steven Spielberg. The third installment of the film starts production on 2000. Plot details are being kept secret by Universal. In the film, Michael Crichton will have a passive involvement.

The Custom of the Country : Uma Thurman is attached to star in indie The Custom of the Country. Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons) wrote and will direct the film which is adapted from Edith Wharton's 1913 novel.

McConaughey Next ? : Matthew McConaughey may star in the film which is the story of William Weatherford, who led the Creek Nation into battle against Gen. Andrew Jackson's troops during the War of 1812. The title of the film would be Raven Mockeror or Red Eagle. McConaughey is currently starring as a submarine captain in the Jonathan Mostow-directed U-571.

American Caesar : Jack Nicholson may star in American Caesar. The film would be a modern day story of Caesar and Brutus set in the U.S. Army.

Navy Diver : Michael Rapaport (Metro) will star in Navy Diver . Shooting begins Monday in Portland, Ore. Rapaport will play Snowhill, a diver-in-training in the real-life story of Carl Brashear. Cuba Gooding Jr. will take the lead in the film about Carl Brashear, who made U.S. military history when he combated racism to become the Navy's first African American deep-sea diver. The story takes place from 1940-70 and tells Brashear's real-life story. In 1966, he continued to dive after losing a leg during a salvage mission in the Atlantic and became the first black and amputee to earn Navy master diver certification. Pic will focus on Gooding’s relationship with Billy Sunday (Robert De Niro), a senior officer and master diver. Shooting is set to begin next month. George Tillman Jr. (Soul Food) will direct the pic.

Bait : Stephen Surjik (Wayne's World 2) has left the project Bait which he will direct.  Surjik has left the production because of creative differences with star Jamie Foxx. Also Kris Kristofferson is attached to the film thatis about an unwitting man (played by Foxx) who is used by police as bait to draw out a wily career criminal.

Ethan HawkeAngels : Ethan Hawke is in negotiations to star in director Chris Eyre's indie drama Angels. Hawke would star as Bill, an ex-con who joins a desperate single mother during a cross-country road trip. Eventually, the pair of lost souls find solace in one another.

The Astronaut's Wife : The official site for Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron starrer film is about an astronaut (Depp) who immediately retires after a mysterious mission into space leaves him changed, and these turns of events send his wife (Theron) into a spiralling chain of chilling events.

Blair Witch Project Sequel and Prequel : Hollywood Reporter reports that the creators of the film, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez met with Artisan to produce a sequel and a prequel to the Blair Witch Project. The pair have four different ideas in the works. Two of the ideas appear to be in prequel. One of them focuses on the story of the accused witch Elly Kedward who was banished from her village in 1785. Though she was assumed to have died during a harsh winter, half the town’s children mysteriously disappear the following year. And The other prequel idea willfocus on the serial killer, Rustin Parr, who ritualistically killed seven children. The other two ideas are said to be in sequel form with one being about following a group of people into the woods searching for the three filmmakers. The other sequel was not revealed.

Robert De Niro  divorcing : De Niro filed for divorce Monday from Grace Hightower, his second wife, a publicist for the Oscar-winning film star said. De Niro and Hightower were wed on June 17 1997 after a year-long engagement. Forty-two-year-old former flight attendant Grace Hightower, gave birth to a baby boy on March 15 1998. Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween : Jenny Mc-Carthy has joined the cast of  horror comedy Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween. The cast includes Shawn and Marlon Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Jon Abrahams and Lachlan Monroe. Keenen Ivory Wayans will direct the film which  shooting will begin on August  11.

The Wedding Planner : Michael Fleming reports that Brendan Fraser who got $4 million for The Mummy, will  get $10 million to join Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner.

Cameron Crowe's untitled project : Saturday Night Live comedian Jimmy Fallon will star in Cameron Crowe's untitled rock 'n' roll project. Fallon will play circa-1973 band manager Dennis Hope. The film also stars Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Kate Hudson and Jason Lee.

Final Fantasy -The Movie : Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi and James Woods are attached to lend their voices to the sci-fi cartoon, Final Fantasy -The Movie. The cartoon will follow efforts to save the Earth from the ultimate enemy, attempts to simulate human emotions and movements more realistically than any previous computer-generated animated picture. Also the voice-cast includes Peri Gilpin, Ming-Na, Ving Rhames and Donald Sutherland. Fantasy is slated for a 2001 release.

Three Kings : George Clooney, Ice Cube and  Mark Wahlberg stars in the latest film of director David O'Russell (Flirting with Disaster, Spanking the Monkey). The pic is about three American soldiers (Clooney, Wahlberg, Cube) who are serving in Saudia Arabia during the aftermath of the Persian Gulf War find a treasure map that might lead to treasures and gold Saddam Hussein stole from Kuwait, which sets them out on a wild desert adventure. But they will find that they are conflicted between their greed for the gold and the plight of the people of Iraq.

Three To Tango : The film stars Dylan McDermott, Matthew Perry, Neve Campbell and Oliver Platt in the lead. A new client (McDermott) asks a young architect (Perry) to stay with his mistress (Campbell) while he's out of town. But he does it in the confidence that the architect is gay... but he's not. In fact, he's got a thing for this girl. Given the chance to be close to her, however, he decides to go along with the gag, to hilarious ramifications.

Robert De NiroThe Good Shepherd : Robert De Niro may be sitting in the director’s chair for the second time in his career after Bronx Tale. De Niro is in serious discussions to helm The Good Shepherd . The script is penned by Oscar-winning scribe Eric Roth (Forrest Gump). The pic chronicles the history of the CIA through the experiences of a 40-year career agent. No other talent is currently attached, and it is unclear whether or not De Niro plans to take a role in the film. Shepherd is waiting in Hollywood for several years. Directors Wayne Wang and Philip Kaufman were once attached to direct this film.

The Wedding Planner : Brendan Fraser and Jennifer Lopez are in negotiations to star in The Wedding Planner. Pic is a romantic comedy which tells the story of a wedding planner who plans everyone else’s wedding successfully except her own. When she meets the man of her dreams, she discovers he’s a client. The film will be the directing debut of choreographer Adam Shankman.

The Weight of Water : Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days) will direct Sean Penn in the feature adaptation of The Weight of Water. Sarah Polley is also in early negotiations to star in the picture, which is based on the 1997 novel by Anita Shreve. The film is set in two time periods as it tells the story of a newspaper photographer who researches the century-old ax murder of two women as an editorial tie-in to a modern-day double murder.

Shaft : Jeffrey Wright is in final negotiations to star as Samuel L. Jackson’s arch rival in Shaft. John Singleton will helm the project. Shooting begins this fall in New York. The pic is a remake of the 1971 film which tells the story of private detective John Shaft (Jackson), who is on the trail of a murderer who wants to eliminate the only witness to his crime. Wright will play Wright takes over the role of Peoples Hernandez, the local drug kingpin who protects the fugitive in exchange for his narcotics connections, from John Leguizamo, who had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts with Moulin Rouge, also shooting this fall with director Baz Luhrmann.

The Blair Witch Project : This weekend, The Blair Witch Project moved from 30 screens to about 1,000 nationwide after two weeks in which it has achieved the largest per-screen gross in the nation. The $25,000 horror flick's marketing approach has raised eyebrows in Hollywood boardrooms, Internet circles are rife with talk its rookie filmmakers brewed up the online buzz about the film. With minimal traditional advertising, The Blair Witch Project has garnered nearly $65,000 per screen in its second week, while no other film -- including major releases like Eyes Wide Shut (exceeded $10,000 per screen).The biggest factor in the approach to this film is that its Web page existed for a long while before the film was released, Kevin Foxe, the film's executive producer, told Reuters. The film is about three film students who disappear in a forest while searching for a fabled 200-year-old witch. It was conceived by University of Central Florida Film School buddies Daniel Myrick, Eduardo Sanchez, Greg Hale and Robin Cowie.
