Brad PittUrban Townies : Brad Pitt is in talks to star as an alienated novelist in Urban Townies. Ashley Judd is also in negotiations to star as the female lead in the movie. Pitt's character has trouble connecting with his affluent, socialite parents. Trying to shed his rich trappings, he moves to Chicago to become a novelist, but he eventually returns home to tend to his dying father. In the process, he attempts to regain control of his life, rekindling a relationship with a woman from his past. Mark Romanek will make his directing debut.

Time Code 2000 : Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas) will direct an intense psychological drama named Time Code 2000. The film will be shot entirely with digital cameras in an experimental, cinema-verite style. Shooting will begin on Oct. 29 and continue for a full month. Pic centers on a woman who had created a new life for herself in Manhattan after murdering her abusive boyfriend seven years earlier. When corrupt cops find out the truth and blackmail her, she reveals her past to her psychologist husband, and the two attempt to combat the blackmailers. Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting) and Saffron Burrows are also in talks to star.

Lord of the Rings : Viggo Mortensen is in negotiations to replace Stuart Townsend in Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. While the studio has not confirmed his departure nor given an official reason for it, director Peter Jackson and Townsend didn't see eye to eye about the role; others said they believed that Townsend was exiting because he lacked the star power to carry off the part.

John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars : A sci-fi thriller set some 200 years in the future, Ghosts of Mars is the story of human colonists on Mars who must be rescued after becoming possessed by vengeful Martian ghosts. The screenplay was written by Carpenter and Larry Sulkis.

Blade 2Blade 2 : It sounds like Blade 2 production is moving forward. In an interview Avi Arad from Marvel told, "We are interviewing directors, and I think we'll be able to announce something in a couple of weeks. Wesley is committed to it, and we have a great script that is ready to go. I know it's hard to say it, but I think we can top the first one."

Kingdom Come : Charlize Theron will star in Kingdom Come, a Western-themed adaptation of Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge. The film will be directed by Michael Winterbottom. The other cast includes Nastassja Kinski, Wes Bentley, Peter Mullanand and Sarah Polley.

Therese Raquin : Kate Winslet will play in a new big screen adaptation of Emile Zola's 19th century novel Therese Raquin. The novel is a melodrama about the sensual Therese and her lover Laurent, who conspire to murder her weak husband, Camille. But Camille's ghost returns to haunt them, turning their intense passion for each other into hatred. Winslet will also serve as executive producer.

The House On Haunted Hill : Official Site has released the full trailer for the Geoffrey Rush and Famke Jannsen starrer. It is the story of a woman unhappy in her relationship with a business tycoon (Rush), who finds herself in a former insane asylum where five strangers are getting $1 million apiece to spend the night.

Edward NortonMotherless Brooklyn : Edward Norton will star in and produce the drama Motherless Brooklyn. In the movie Norton will star as a detective suffering from Tourette's Syndrome who is pressed into duty to solve the murder of his mentor. "It's really powerful -- a great vehicle for Edward,'' said New Line senior VP Brian Witten. "It's a complex and interesting character, a damaged character, and that's the thing that's holding him back from achieving his accomplishments.''

Loser : Mena Suvari (American Pie) is in final negotiations to join Greg Kinnear and Jason Biggs in romantic comedy Loser.The film tells the story of Ben (Biggs), a college student whose roommates brand him a loser and conspire to get him booted from the dorm. He winds up falling in love with Dora (Suvari), a fellow student who has eyes for their professor (Kinnear).

Brad PittFight Club : David Finchers' new thriller's commercial trailer is available now. The pic stars Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. The film is about two young men (Pitt, Norton). They start a secret club that gives young urban professionals the chance to beat the living crap out of each other. Everything goes great until mutual interest in the same woman (Carter) comes between them....

Boys and Girls : Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black) has been cast to replace Anna Friel in the lead role for Boys and Girls. Forlani will play opposite Freddie Prinze Jr.; the pair play close friends who fall in love. Jason Biggs (American Pie) plays Prinze's womanizing chum and serves as the film's comic relief.

Joe the King : Frank Whaley's new film is about a destitute 14 year old (Noah Fleiss) who struggles to keep his life together despite harsh abuse at his mother's (Karen Young) hands, harsher abuse at his alcoholic father's (Val Kilmer), and a growing separation from his slightly older brother (Max Ligosh)....The cast also includes Ethan Hawke and John Leguizamo.

Martin ScorseseGangs of New York : Miramax Films had committed itself to working out a deal to co-finance Martin Scorsese's Irish gang period piece Gangs of New York with Disney, sources said. The film, which will star Leonardo DiCaprio and possibly Robert De Niro and Cameron Diaz, is believed to be the first time that Disney and Disney-owned Miramax have co-financed a film together. Miramax will handle domestic rights and Disney will take foreign. The project is currently budgeted at around the mid-$65 million. The start has yet to be determined. Scorsese and his frequent collaborator Jay Cocks will rewrote the script, which added a love story.

Boys and Girls : Heather Donahue (The Blair Witch Project) has joined Freddie Prinze Jr. in the college drama Boys and Girls. The movie tells the story of two students who fall in and out of love. The film will be directed by Robert Iscove (She's All That).

Me, Myself and IreneMe, Myself and Irene : A new picture taken from the set of Jim Carrey& Renee Zellweger starrer movie, Me, Myself and Irene. The film is Peter and Bobby Farrelly's next comedy which Carrey plays a Rhode Island state trooper with a split personality. When he fails to take his medication, each of his competing personalities falls in love with the same woman (Irene), and with his internal chemistry now in tumult, they declare war on each other. The Straight Story : David Lynchs' last film is a road movie about two estranged brothers, Alvin Straight (Richard Farnsworth), a 73-year-old widower in declining health, and his brother Lyle (Harry Dean Stanton) who lives in Wisconsin. When Lyle has a stroke, Alvin determines to visit his ailing brother with a John Deere tractor, which he rides all the way to Wisconsin. The script is inspired by a New York Times article. Weekend Box Office : For the third consecutive weekend, Double Jeopardy is the top grossing movie at the box office. Harrison Ford's Random Hearts came second and Three Kings came third. Kevin Spacey starrer American Beauty is 4th while Superstar is fifth.

Adam SandlerLittle Nicky : Variety reports Harvey Keitel is in negotiations to play Adam Sandler's demon dad in New Line Cinema's comedy Little Nicky. The film is about young hellion Sandler as he searches for his trouble-making brother in New York City who had left home after a fight with their father, Satan (Keitel), who refused to let him take over the family business. Sandler got $20 million to star in the film and wrote the screenplay with Tim Herlihy.

Beyond Borders : Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kevin Costner are in final negotiations to star in Beyond Borders, a love story which will be directed by Oliver Stone. The film will concern an American doctor (Costner) and a British relief worker (Zeta-Jones), and is set against the backdrop of U.N. relief efforts around the world.

Lord of the Rings : Cate Blanchett has joined the cast of Lord of the Rings. The other cast includes Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler, Ian Holm, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee and John Rhys-Davies. Blanchett will play Galadriel. The budget is said to be at least $130 million.
